Privacy - Spywares and How It Affects You
If you are and Internet Marketer Or even just an online shopper, the importance of securing your privacy from Spyware and other Adware programs can never be emphasized enough. If you have ever made a transaction over the internet with your credit card, this information could have been at risk. Even with the emergence of TLS (Transport Layer Security) ad its predecessor SSL (Secure Sockets Layer). The security threat posed by Spyware and other Adware programs are still not eliminated. This is because SSL only provides a secure connection between 2 parties. What SSL does is to prevent sensitive information from being intercepted and altered which are also known as man-in-the-middle attacks. Of course this is an an important aspect of information security however, this alone does NOT prevent sensitive information from credit card details or i-banking access codes from being stolen.

Another security threat often overlooked would be Trojans. Also known by several different names, such as spyware to malware or internet parasites, these surveillance applications are often installed discretely on your system to monitor your internet activities and reveal your surfing patterns and purchasing habits. Spyware also extracts email addresses, hijacks browsers and records credit card numbers, bank accounts and password information.

Typically, information gathered by a spyware application is sent back to the intruder who uses this information spams you with pop up and and email advertisements. More serious consequences occur when credit card or bank information is obtained by spyware. Eventually resulting in identity thefts or credit card fraud. In addition, Spyware also compromises the efficient functioning of your computer as a fair bit of your system resources will be "eaten" as it builds up. In extreme cases, it could even lead to malfunctions in your registry keys and memory.

To avoid spyware and adware and protect your privacy users must be cautious when surfing the internet. Beware of freeware and shareware programs as they usually install spyware as well, without the user's knowledge. Install and regularly use a good spyware scan and removal tool. An effective anti-spyware program will detect and remove all possible infected files. The scanner should perform a deep system scan in order to identify files infected that usually go unnoticed.

Most spyware scanners have a removal feature as well but for those that do not, a list of detected spyware files is still compiled at the end of the scan. This list given by any spyware tool tells the details of that particular spyware as well as its location on your computer. If there is no removal feature on your program you could try manually deleting them. However, this process of manual deletion does require a bit of knowledge on the system registries.
